Most people would agree that I am “living the dream.” I have a job that I love and am passionate about, a career that gives me the opportunity to travel to amazing places, and financial stability to pursue what I’ve always wanted. Over the past month I’ve had people say things like, “Your so lucky!” and “I wish I could have done that.” To read more about my dreams for travel nursing check out Wanderlust Ahead: California Edition for a recap.
But this is not a post about me. This is a post for you. In the midst of my dreams coming true, I wonder–how can you make your dreams come true? How can you live life to the fullest? How can you experience joy in everyday? Remember, if you are not where you want to be, you can change that. It may come with sacrifices and risks, but wouldn’t it be worth it in the end to follow your dreams?
I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Being a traveling nurse isn’t the biggest dream I have. It’s a blessing, and a privilege, and I am so grateful. But it isn’t enough. I desire more from my life. And I have found that joy in Christ.
John 101:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
But apart from Christ, there is yet another desire that is higher than having the career of my dreams. Singleness has a lot of opportunities and obstacles. All in all I enjoy being single and the freedom it gives. But I would trade in my “dream” career for a husband who was following after the Lord in a heartbeat. I dream of the day I will be married to the love of my life and start a beautiful family. I know some of you might think that silly, but it is true. However, God has placed it on my heart to be patient and to wait.
So be grateful. Be grateful for where YOU are. Be grateful for what YOU have.
Be grateful and joyful,
